This year has been bloody weird, right?! And for us small, sustainably-minded independent businesses, it's certainly had its challenges. But the silver lining has been that business-as-usual has been shaken up, we've become more staunch in our values and more creative, and we're really feeling the power of community.

Over recent months, we've been speaking with pals at other responsible UK-based businesses about the rollercoaster ride of 2020, and we decided to come together to highlight just how awesome one another is and to offer you guys the opportunity to win some top-notch prizes.

We've teamed up with Millican, Outdoor Provisions and Blossom Coffee Roasters to put together a thoughtful collection of goods to get you set for an autumn adventure. Find out more about each company below.

How it works

The competition is a sweepstake, which means the more actions you take, the more entry points you get and the higher the chance of winning. Simple. Below you'll see a list of actions you can take, each of which will enter you into the draw and award you entry points. You can take as many or as few actions as you wish and still be in for a chance to win. Some actions are awarded a higher number of points, and if you take all of the actions listed, you'll be awarded bonus points, increasing your odds of winning even more.

One of the actions is to sign up to our newsletters. If you are already signed up, don't worry – pop your email address in anyway, collect the entry points and we'll ensure you don't receive duplicate emails.

The competition runs from 14th October, 12pm until 23rd October, 12pm (British Summer Time).

Good luck and thanks for playing!

About the brands

Millican

Based in the Lake District National Park, Millican makes lifelong companions for a lifetime of conscious adventure. Their brand and beautiful rucksacks are inspired by Millican Dalton, a maverick spirit defined by fierce independence who refused to take worn paths and was committed to simple living.

They say: "We are always ready to learn, forever curious and sensitive to a changing world. We challenge ourselves and expectation by doing transparent business, making sustainable decisions for planet and people, and reducing our impact wherever possible."

Outdoor Provisions

From a business plan concocted by two friends while bike-packing, Outdoor Provisions make all-natural energy bars in plastic-free, compostable wrappers, in flavours inspired by UK national parks. They believe that all-natural products are best for a slow and balanced release of energy, and they have produced tasty energy bars with unique flavours and a texture suited to being eaten during activity.

They say: "We will always be as low-impact as possible, considered and progressive - from products to packaging to process. We will use profits to give back to organisations and initiatives that protect and enable the outdoors."

Blossom Coffee Roasters

Blossom Coffee Roasters are focused on making good coffee simple, exciting and accessible, and doing so in a way that is responsible towards people and the planet. They want people to fall in love with speciality coffee and encourage them to be part of a movement that helps to protect it for future generations. They are a CarbonNeutral® company, B-Corp pending and have partnered with Manchester City of Trees, a local charity that aims to reinvigorate the city’s landscape by transforming underused, unloved woodland and planting a tree for everyone who lives in the city within the next 30 years."

They say: "We admit that we aren’t perfect. We don’t have any quick fixes or easy answers, but by continually evaluating our process and striving to lessen our impact, we promise to always place sustainability at the centre of what we do and support others to do the same. It’s time to do things differently."
