Another Escape is an outdoor lifestyle and creative culture publication that explores the stories of passionate people and the ideas and stimuli behind their inspirational lifestyles. We cover a disparate selection of subject matter all deep-rooted in exploration, creativity, innovation and discovery. We are gentle and humble in tone with an investigative nature and we look for interesting practices in which people can be exploratory or creative in unusual and extraordinary ways. We aim to be a source of inspiration for those seeking an active and fulfilling lifestyle.
Through the people and topics that we feature our aim is to inspire and encourage our readers to actively explore their own aspirations. Another Escape is comprised of a mix of ideas-based articles, features, people pieces and photo-essays. Storytelling is at the heart of what we do and strong narratives are key to the publication. As such, from Volume Three onwards we have themed our volumes to ensure a strong curation of content, which has enabled us to delve deeper into the subject matter and stories we explore. There are undercurrent themes of outdoor culture, sustainability and responsible practice throughout all our volumes. The magazine has a unique format – it is divided into focussed sections, with each section's topic explored from four different perspectives.
We believe that the interaction and experience that printed material allows is invaluable – we wanted to create a well designed tactile object that could slot onto your bookcase, sit on the coffee table or be slung into a rucksack. Our publication straddles being a book and a magazine; Another Escape is 120 pages on beautiful quality 140gsm uncoated paper stock (FSC approved and Euro Ecolabel) with 300gsm matte laminate cover, printed in vegetable inks with a local printer.

The Night Garden
VOLUME FOUR STORY
At night many flora spring to life: their petals open, scents are dispersed and they take on a new life under the canopy of darkness. However, it is by day that these worlds are cared for and Penny Harms, the Glasshouse Coordinator at the Bristol Botanic Gardens, tells us about her experiences tending to the botanical world.
VOLUME THREE STORY
Bamboo is a silent superhero of the botanical world. Its super strength, über-fast growth, durability, flexibility, even its bacteria fighting feats, all contribute to its seemingly supernatural being. All of this plus its naturally cylindrical hollow structure is why this material is perfectly suited for making bicycles.
The Meteorite Hunt
VOLUME FOUR STORY
Believed to be totally untouched – and even undiscovered – by humans until the nineteenth century, the icy deserts of the Antarctic hold some of the most spectacular and magnificent landscapes on earth.
VOLUME ONE STORY
Boneshaker magazine's James Lucas speaks about how the Bristol Bike Project – which he co-founded with friend Colin Fan – has had a positive impact on the local community within Bristol, UK.

Another Escape is created by a small editorial team led by Rachel Taylor and Jody Daunton. Part of the fun for us is to continuously push the notion of how people can be creative. Our journey to create Another Escape sees us undertake many different and new experiences and having the pleasure of meeting many interesting individuals, and we look to channel this into the stories we publish.

It's not just about design, it's about all the other things in life that create inspiration everywhere and these in turn can lead to expanding your interests, knowledge and passions in life.
"Another Escape has just morphed into biannual magazine. The result is a smart, focused new magazine about following your inspiration to do what you want to do. Something we can all relate to."
Among the freshest culture publications we've seen this year, it's billing as "A Creative Exploration" translates into a series of reflections and fleeting encounters across the world. Like the leather-bound notebook of a well-seasoned traveller, it's a well-considered diary of writings and photographs and illustrations of ethereal places, of coming togethers and labours of love.
It's obvious that a tremendous amount of hard work goes into finding such original work and as a reader I'm intrigued and inspired. Whether it's a conventional viewpoint or just something fun and full of ridiculousness, Another Escape is a treasure and takes pride of place on my bookshelf. So, thank you Another Escape for a glorious magazine and for seeding some home grown inspiration the old fashioned way.
The pictures are stunning, the design is beautiful and the writing is inspirational. I want to work for a magazine myself one day, and magazines like this are what keep me going.
I was really drawn to the design of this magazine, especially the little symbols that categorise the motives behind Another Escape, which is: "the need for inspiration, the exploration of ideas, the application of ideas in process, and the final response." A must have for all adventure addicts, and those counting down the days till their holiday.
It's a journey in itself – it guides me to read articles that I would never otherwise read, which I find engaging and inspiring.
